PhotoBase Desktop Import
Drag and Drop into PhotoBase
Introduction
PhotoBase Desktop allows you to seamlessly import photos and videos on your computer to PhotoBase.
How To Import
- Select any combination of images, videos, folders, and zip files.
- Drag and drop the files into the PhotoBase Desktop App.
- PhotoBase will automatically import the files and maintain the directory structure.
- View your imported files in the PhotoBase app.
Google Photos Support
Google Photos zip files are also supported. To transfer files from Google Photos to PhotoBase, follow these steps:
- Export photos via Google Takeout.
- Log in to Google Takeout
- Select the desired Google Photos folders to export.
- Select the "Send download link via email" method and choose the
.zip
file export type. - Click "Create Export" to begin the export process.
- Download all of the Takeout zip files.
- Drag and drop the zip files into the PhotoBase app. Make sure to import all of the Takeout files that were exported. You can do this sequentially, or all at once.
Note: Google Photos includes metadata .json files that will be processed during import.

Directory Structure
All imported files will retain their original directory structure, relative to the top-level PhotoBase folder. This applies to files within folders and zip archives.
Known Issues
Incompatible .mov files
Some older .mov files may not be natively supported by Apple's Quicktime player. To watch these videos, use PhotoBase's file fixing feature.
